South Korea’s spy agency (NIS) has reported that North Korea is sending troops to aid Russia in the war against Ukraine.

An estimated 1,500 North Korean soldiers have already arrived in Russia, with the total potentially rising to 12,000. This follows Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s claim that up to 10,000 North Korean troops could join the conflict.

Recent intelligence also suggests North Korea has been supplying Russia with ammunition, including missiles and anti-armor rockets.

This deepens military ties between the two nations, underscored by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol called for a security meeting, urging a global response to this threat.

Experts believe North Korean troops may not be immediately deployed on the frontlines due to language barriers and lack of combat experience, but could assist in guarding border regions.

This collaboration is part of a growing military pact between North Korea and Russia, promising mutual support in case of aggression.
