A series of pager-related explosions across Lebanon has resulted in the deaths of nine people, including a child, and injuries to around 2,800 others.

The blasts, which occurred simultaneously in Beirut and other regions, involved handheld pagers reportedly used by Hezbollah members for communication purposes.

Hezbollah, an armed group with Iranian backing, has accused Israel of being behind the explosions.

The group stated that the devices were used by personnel within their various units and institutions.

The explosions have also led to the confirmed deaths of eight Hezbollah fighters, and Iranโ€™s ambassador to Lebanon is among the injured.

Lebanonโ€™s health authorities are currently assessing the aftermath of the incident, which has sparked significant concern and raised tensions in the region.
