On December 28, 2024, a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok to Muan International Airport, South Korea, crashed while landing, skidding off the runway and bursting into flames.

The Boeing 737-800 carried 181 people, with reports of at least 28 to 62 fatalities. Two survivors were rescued and hospitalized.

Authorities suspect a landing gear malfunction, possibly caused by a bird strike, as the cause. An investigation is underway.
