At least 11 people were killed and over 20 injured after a car plowed into a crowd at Vancouverโs Lapu Lapu Festival on Saturday night.
The 30-year-old male driver was arrested, and police confirmed it was not an act of terrorism.
The attack happened at East 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street during a celebration of Filipino culture.
Witnesses described chaotic scenes as festival-goers were struck near food trucks.
Prime Minister Mark Carney, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim, and other leaders expressed condolences, with major campaign events canceled out of respect.
The Philippine president and King Charles III also sent messages of sympathy. An investigation is ongoing.
