Super Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm to hit Asia in 2024, struck Chinaโs Hainan province on September 6, causing extensive damage.
With maximum sustained winds reaching 234 km/h, Yagi toppled trees, flooded roads, and knocked out power to over 800,000 households.
The storm prompted the evacuation of nearly one million residents from the affected areas.
After moving across China, the typhoon weakened to a Category 3 storm with winds of 187 km/h and is now approaching Vietnamโs northern coast.
Local authorities in Vietnam are preparing for potential disruptions as Yagi nears.
Earlier in the week, Yagi caused severe destruction in the Philippines, resulting in at least 16 deaths and multiple injuries.
