South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol publicly apologized for recent controversies surrounding his wife, Kim Keon Hee, including accusations of accepting a luxury Dior handbag and involvement in stock manipulation.

In a televised statement, Yoon acknowledged that Kim should have acted with more caution but argued that her image had been unfairly “demonized,” with some allegations being “exaggerated.” To address the matter, he announced plans to create an office overseeing her official duties but ruled out an investigation.

Yoonโ€™s apology comes as he seeks to recover public support amid these issues. The controversies have sparked criticism from the opposition Democratic Party and caused some division within Yoon’s People Power Party.
