In the northern Indian city, Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh is hosting the Mahakumbh Mela, the world’s largest gathering, with millions of devout Hindus arriving from across the globe.

Over six weeks, pilgrims take a holy dip at Sangam—the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers—believed to cleanse sins.

A sprawling 4,000-hectare tent city along the rivers accommodates visitors, who arrive in vibrant processions, singing and dancing.

The festival is a spectacular celebration of faith and culture, captured in stunning visuals by photojournalist Ankit Srinivas.
