Israel and Hezbollah have reached a 60-day ceasefire agreement, effective November 27, 2024, following mediation by the U.S. and France.

The deal requires both sides to halt hostilities, with Israeli troops withdrawing from southern Lebanon.

Lebanese forces will replace them to ensure Hezbollah disarms in the area.

A five-nation monitoring committee, led by the U.S., will oversee compliance and facilitate the return of displaced civilians.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the agreement as a strategic victory, while Hezbollah is reviewing the terms.

Although the ceasefire offers hope for stability, analysts warn it remains fragile, with unresolved issues like disarmament and rebuilding.

The next two months will test whether this agreement can lead to lasting peace in the region.
