The Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo, a group representing survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (known as Hibakusha), has been awarded the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize.

Recognized for their tireless advocacy for nuclear disarmament, the group has shared their harrowing personal experiences to raise global awareness about the catastrophic consequences of nuclear weapons.

Their efforts have helped maintain the “nuclear taboo” and fostered hope for a future free of nuclear warfare.

This award honors their lifelong commitment to peace and humanity’s safety.
