Hurricane Debby, the fourth Atlantic hurricane of 2024, made landfall in Florida on August 5 as a Category 1 storm.
The NOAA’s GOES-East satellite captured striking images of the hurricane’s progression from space.
Debby hit Steinhatchee, Florida, with winds of up to 75 mph, causing widespread damage, power outages affecting over 300,000 people, and at least four fatalities.
Although the storm weakened to a tropical storm as it moved northward, it continued to present significant flood risks across the southeastern U.S.
